The recommended fee for a standard 50+ minute session with a psychologist is $300. My fee for a 50+ minute counselling session is $240. The Medicare rebate for eligible clients is $96.65.
You don’t need a referral to see a psychologist unless you are claiming for a Medicare rebates. Medicare rebates are available for clients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan for up to 10 sessions per year. This can be obtained from your GP before your first counselling appointment. You may be eligible for a rebate through your private health insurance. This include international students. We recommend you contact your insurer to find out what coverage you have.
